branding iron??

i need a couple of branding irons made up and thought posting here may find someone that can help
the size is approx 80mm long and the height of the letters -i would imagine 4mm plate [i have some]
14 characters in one [inc a space] and the other 7 characters

i am working on a project that needs some names burnt into a piece of vic ash
the idea is to cnc them onto a mild steel plate and tack them onto a bar for a handle
the letters would need to stand up from the plate like embossed not in relief

it could be in brass - i think it has a high enough meting point to burn the lettering into a piece of wood -
attaching a handle may be more difficult with brass like for eg you couldnt solder it on

I used to make many of these. Used 6mm engravers brass and silver solder to a rod for the handle.
Only ever use a gas torch to heat it and not an oxy like one customer tried . A big plumbers soldering iron works quite well.

sorry most of our machines have a hard time cutting aluminium

I wonder if aluminium would be good enough to do this, I know that any spilled molten aluminium instantly charcoals my timber moulding boxes upon contact, they end up quite charred after a while.

I know that you wouldn't want to get them to melting point but it may burn well enough to suit your needs.

A casting of what you want would be easy enough to make, with the right tools, I am currently waiting on some better foundry sand, will be a couple of weeks away, if you are still stuck by that time let me know and I can try a test run.

If it looks like working I can include it an a batch, and once I have the new sand I intend to do a LOT of batches, lol.

I just read your initial post again, do you mean 80mm in total length including 14 characters?

That may be a little too fine for normal sand casting, though I am playing around with other methods that may work, if I have any luck I will let you know, otherwise just straight out machining a small aluminium block would most likely be the simplest option, if it can be made hot enough for the job required.

Roughly how much? To burn in the bottoms of turned stuff
