Have you? There are some fabulous renovations on here and there is always the worry that you do too much. I realise it often depends on what suburb you are located in.

We're in a former housing commission area, and prices have stagnated, after a fairly hefty rise after we bought three years ago. We have been trying to decide what and how much further renovating to do, whether or not we will get finance, whether it's even worth it. The past few weeks though we have suddely come to a grinding halt, with the realisation that we are not likely to get nearly the finance we need to finish this place, nor the right price if we sold up. We would not lose money, but we certainly would just about break even, leaving nothing left to buy a different place.

Disappointing time, after all the work we have put in. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Probably should have pulled the damn house down and built something new, or never bought it in the first place.

Damn money pit. Buy in haste, repent at leisure.
