Default What floor finish for Tassie Oak workstation?

    Hi,

I'm building a corner workstation out of tassie oak (photos to come). The question I have is what floor finish would anyone recommend that is hard wearing for benchtops (in matt) and preferably water based?

    Thanks, WW

    Default water based coating

why not use a penetrating oil. once a bit dull or duller than matt, then you can spot repair or spot rejuvenate. with a waterbased coating, it leaves a layer on the surface, once worn, generally you would then need to resand and start again.

I would go with Danish oil or similar. It will harden the surface to make it more durable, and can easily be repaired after accidents.

We have used this on our bench tops for years.
