finish for brushbox,blackwood table.
I have nearly finished a blackwood table with a parquetry top in brushbox and want to really bring out the features in these nice timbers. It is a hallway table and i am not up to date with whats out there. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Livos oil finish
Hi
the clear penetration oils will really enhance the colour and structure of the timber and doesnt give you the plastic coating of standard varinshes. Livos have a showroom in Bayswater in Melbourne with heaps of samples and timber oiled.Last edited by ubeaut; 12th October 2011 at 04:25 PM.

Livos oil is expensive linseed oil.
Linseed oils are at low end of durability and longevity , thus perfectly fine for low use tables. The timbers will get darker and darker over time.
Pre-cat lacquers are not bad for low use tables and have used them on parquetry table tops with good effect. Again not the most durable but in mid to higher end (Depending on brand).

Livos oils
Hi Cruzi
Why do you think Livos oils are expensive? or shall I say expensive in comparison to what? Petroleum based, synthetic products? I've even got my radiata pine floors done in the Livos oils, 7 years ago. only touched up two rooms after 5.5 years.
Have you actually used it yourself and maybe had an issue with it?Last edited by ubeaut; 12th October 2011 at 04:25 PM.

It's expensive compared to linseed oil that doesn't have the isoaliphates (petroleum products) and silicic acid.(a synthetic product) that Livos oil does .

livos oils
Hi
Linseed on its own is not durable however with other waxes and resins is more than durable. have you seen the Livos web site "www.livos.com.au", not only is it used on timber but also on concrete floors too. the company "www.anrofloorcare.com.au" sand and use only the livos oils on floors.Last edited by ubeaut; 12th October 2011 at 04:25 PM.

Livos oil
I tried the livos oil and found it pretty good. It brought out the grain nicely and Angela at LIvos oils was very helpful.

Angela, if you are the Angela from Livos you really should disclose your connection. You were referring to Livos in the third person as if you were neutral.
I have no problem with suppliers commenting but we should know that up front

Sorry Clinto
Yes I am that is why I am using my real name.
Am I meant to declare it somewhere or just not speak in the third party?Last edited by ubeaut; 12th October 2011 at 04:23 PM.

Angela - reading through your complete list of posts, almost every single one, on whatever thread, is used to promote Livos products......
I'd say the sponsors of the forum might just have a teeny problem with you using it in this way for free advertising? Especially as they also manufacture finishing products?

RE: Livos
HI
Thank you for your comments, I suppose writing in the third person is a habit from writing articles, and yes I can see your point of view however I sincerely did not have any hidden agenda and have only answered posts that were appropriate and could offer an opinion from personal experience. Although I have a connection with Livos I also have extensive hands on experience both here and in Europe. I would like to think it important that the members of these forums are given choices and maybe alternatives to what they have been using. I am passionate about the products and sharing their unique qualities, however just because either you or I may say one particular product may be good does not mean that everyone goes out and buys it, but that they are now aware of a choice.
I openly used my name and have not made any negative comments regarding other products. If you feel that I have acted inappropriately then I apologise and just because I may think Livos is the healthiest option- I’m not naive to think it is the solution to everyone’s problems.
If you could advise me as to how best to identify myself I would extremely proud to be known as a representative of the Livos Products and assist anyone who may be interested.Last edited by ubeaut; 12th October 2011 at 04:24 PM.
