Help needed from a knight of the dark art

Ladies and Gentlemen, my next major project is 8 chairs and each one has a carved crest rail. My woodworking is 'competent', my carving is 'barely passable' but my CNC carving skills and knowledge are 'nil'.
I would like to pay someone from the forum to CNC rout the basic crest and I will finesses with hand tools … but I don't know where to start?
I have no idea how to write a programme BUT I could carve one and I presume it could be copy carved by a stylus follower?
On the face of the crest rail is an ellipse about 250 x 150, relief carved, maximum depth about 8mm and the few undercuts would be done after with hand tools. The back of the same piece will be engraved each with a different name to be done in Celtic font. The crest rails are flat and can be carved before assembly
I am in South West Sydney.

Fletty,

don't worry about writing a program, just come up with your design, even as a sketch on paper.

Most CNC users would be able to scan the design, or reproduce it using their drawing/CAD software of choice, then more software generates the Gcode which drives the actual CNC machine around.

One key bit of info you'd need to supply is whether the chair backs are flat, or curved, as that would make a big difference in routing the designs.

You could also go googling for clip art which is close to your desired design, or if you're really keen, download something like CamBam, and have a play with making your design, then having a bit of a learn about the toolpaths, and generating Gcode.

But bottom line, just work on your design - the owner/operator of the CNC will need to do the rest, as it can be very machine-specific.

Thank you Andrew, I'll draw up an accurate 1:1 and then go looking for someone to do it for me. I designed the chair for the crest rail to be flat expecting that would be an issue.

I have a cnc machine and can help with this one.
But will need more details, and also, being a hobbyist, time is also another factor as I wont be able to turn it around quickly.
