Default 2007 Mazda Tribute- Are they any good?

Friend of mine is looking at getting a 07 Mazda Tribute for well below market value, she will save about $6 to 8k off the market value.

There is nothing wrong with the car, as it has been maintained and serviced regularly.

From my search online, I cannot seem to find much info apart from it is a heavy user on fuel for city driving and the Automatic Transmission is prone to probs but this info is sketchy as it is spread over all the models, not just to the 07 model

Anyone out there with one and are you happy with it?
    Cheers

There's not much info around, this link is the best I could find.

    Thumbs up

The Tribute and the ford Explorer are pretty much the same vehicle, as I understand things. Tribute is a better quality build.

They seemed to be quite popular at one time, but not so much now.

We have friends with a Tribute that is 5 or 6 yrs.pld. No problems with it except fuel consumption around town.

The Mazda Tribute is a soft roader , medium size and the Ford Explorer (EXPLODER) is a larger vehicle with no commonality that I know of with the Mazda. The Explorer has a somewhat "ordinary" reputation.

It's the Mazda Tribute and the F**d ESCAPE that you're thinking of Art.

My mate has one, and didn't like it when I refered to it as a "soft-roader" and suggested he might need my Pajero to help tow him over the gutters.

I have a couple of friends with them and they are a nice soft roader. I was very tempted by them at one point but ended up with a V6 Camry wagon instead. The model run had been going for yonks though - same shape for getting close to 10 years now.

The only complaint I've ever heard is fuel thirst (~15l/1900km around town, I believe). But the V6 is a nice engine to drive. The ford Escape came with a smaller 4cyl engine as well AFAIK, but I'd go for the V6 and put up with the fuel.

    Cheers,

No big issues with them other than they are a VERY old design and so the ergonomics and NVH are not up to other vehicles of that era. I imagine the price is around the $15k to make it cheap.
