Earthing on TV cable
G'day all,
Not a regular in this forum, have more to do with making dust than sparks, but need some advice...
New house has a small satellite on the roof, foxtel I think, which I don't use. In one room there is what looks like a tv outlet - plug is kinda like an old computer coaxial cable female fitting with the thick plastic inner bit. There is a green/yellow earth cable attached to the outlet about a metre long - on the other end is a regular electrical plug with the in-out type of fitting, so you can plug this into the power socket and then plug something else into the fitting. Only the earth is connected in the fitting. It was plugged in to the socket with I first saw it.
Can anyone tell me what this cable actually does and whether it's ok to remove?
Thanks,
Adam
