    Default Getting stuck in traffic.

I know you city slickers have to put up with heavy traffic all the time but I bet you don't see this too often.
A CAT 793 Mining Haul Truck, minus the tray and wheels, being relocated. A daily occurance around here. The tray is a seperate oversize load and the wheels are another.
I get held up a lot.

Two minutes after I took these photos I was stopped because the road was closed while they set off an explosion (called firing a shot) in one of the mines. Also a daily occurance.

The other two photos were a couple I snapped in the main street recently. You can tell this is a mining town.
I think the order was Ferrari, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lamborghini,Ferrari, Lamborghini,Ferrari.

Looks like John St., Singleton to me.

As for the Italian exotica, is that part of the fly in - fly out regime or is it another case of wide loads ?

You wouldn't get that in Muswellbrook where the prefered mode of travel is a Moree Mercedes (XA Falcon with different coloured body panels )

If I see more than five vehicles in a row on the road I reckon I've hit the rush hour. I have on several occasions travelled from Millmerran to Goondiwindi (locally known as "Gundy" and nothing to do with that town up towards the Barringtons) and not encountered another vehicle travelling in the same direction: 142kms.

More recently I set out early travelling South on a trip to the Hunter Valley and I was nearly at Warialda before I saw another vehicle travelling in either direction. That would have been close to 250kms.

If I go to Brisbane, I fundamentally drive around in freak-out mode!

    It is John St.
And I chuckled quietly to your Muswellbrook observation. I do know some people from Muswellbrook who DON'T drive a vehicle of that description (mainly because they get a white mine spec ute from their employer )

I think the Italian display was a day trip up the Putty Rd by a Sydney club.

Many a true word spoken in jest. The roof lamp and sign writing spoil the image.

I would agree about the Ferrari/Lambo club too. Probably on their way to get a drop of Dr Jurd's Jungle Juice .

Talking of exclusive car clubs there was once upon a time in a former existence one called the 140 club. To belong you had to travel the 140 miles from London to Bristol down the M4 motorway. You were given an hour to complete the trip. This was back in the late 60s and cars with a top speed of only 150mph were unlikely to be able to average the speed because of being baulked by slow traffic.

Consequently it was the preserve of the filthy rich with very expensive cars and a death wish .

Last Saturday we went into Carcassonne for the morning market. We were stopped at the junction of our village road and the main road by a 'Convoi Exceptionnel' outrider shoving all of the traffic out of the way and he blocked us itto the side road, or tried to. We pulled out and passed him and carried on our way.

We did the good stuff and were on our way back home. There was a stationary line of traffic from one roundabout, across the next 200 yards further back and back to the next one almost a mile further back. We stopped at that roundabout to see a wine producer that flogs his wares there, some cracking wine!! We aksed his daughter what the hold up was? There were 2 wind generator blades making a VERY slow way west. They had taked almost 2 hours to do about 3 miles! They were about 50 or 60 meters long!

If we had been at that junction 15 seconds later we would have been in deep poo!

They also use that route for 60 foot yachts too. Usally in the full summer tourist season. All this big stuff never goes near the Autoroute system?
My ambition is to grow old disgracefully. So far my ywife recons that I'm doing quite well! John.

This is a normal occurrence up here, this being the only road from Brisbane to Darwin and all places in between. About 15 years ago we had a rocket come through, double hauled by two primemovers and steerable dollies on the back. Before that there was an amonium tank come through, it weighed 75 tons, same deal, two primemovers and steerable dollies at the back. It came from Adelaide on it's way to Gladstone.

Dump trucks, bodies, Excavators, and all sorts of large machinery come through here.

I saw this parked at the Dingo roadhouse, unloaded, but still an impressive bit of kit.
