Tile Adhesive over membrane query
Hi all,
I am doing a bathroom in the shed and am using wet area gyprock for the lining. I purchased and used some Gripset 38 waterproofing membrane ( on recommendation from the shop bloke as I have no experience in this area). When I bought the tiles the bloke sold me some pre-mixed tile adhesive and said it would be ok over the membrane. Further reading of relevant containers and on the Gripset website says not to use a solvent based adhesive over the membrane (but to use a gripset product).
The easy answer to all this is to return the solvent based adhesive ( 2 hour trip) but can anyone advise why a solvent based pre-mixed tile adhesive can't be used over the membrane??? Does it "eat" the membrane away before it sets? Is it just that Gripset want more of my money to buy their product??
Any info appreciated.
