Birch counter top
Hey, Just installed a new Birch Butcher Block counter top. What oil do you recommend for food prep?
Thank you in advance.

I'm an advocate for the Osmo Polyx Oil for that sort of application...
This is hardwax oil and mentions on the data sheet that it is safe for humans, animals and plants. The makeup is generally natural plant oils, parrafin and dearomatised white spirit (no Benzene).
Other qualities is that it's easy to reapply at any stage and I have been using it on boat interiors, kitchen benches etc for some time with good results.
Hope this helps-C.R.

If you are using it to actually cut or chop on I recommend U-Beaut Foodsafe Plus. No taste, no smell. Osmo have an oil for chopping boards but it costs twice as much.

Constantia Organic Finishes, if its good enough for Parliament House its good enough for your bench top.

And remember, nothing is food safe until its properly cured.
