Being logged off when posting?
Several times over the last week or so I've posted msgs and when hitting "preview" or "submit" am thrown to the "you're not logged in" screen. OK, so I enter my pw again and... find that my post has been lost in transit. ? It appears to be related to how long I'm in the editor. Start a post, get called away by some #$&*%$ door-knocker and I can almost guarantee this'll happen when I get back to the 'puta.
Worse, I'm often away for days at a time and when I log in I hit "new posts" then open each page in seperate browser windows so I can easily catch up. Once I hit the above snag, all the links are SNAFU and hitting "new posts" only brings the very latest. At least that bit works as expected. Dammit. So I have to slog through things the hard way and 'tis making what should be a simple matter into a wearisome chore. It has happened several times tonight... I'm not a happy chappie.
Anyone else copping this?

Skew. Have you ticked the "remember me" box at your log in.
The board refreshes every 15 mins if there is no server activity. Possibly why you are losing your posts.

When I go to post a message I get sent to the not logged in screen even though it shows that I am logged in in the upper R.H corner of the screen, & that I cannot post a message as it is an invalid entry or something. I then log in again & re-post only to find that my original post has been sent! I have to go back & delete one of the posts.
I don't reckon that it's all me or my browser ( Mozilla Suite ) as I did not have any problems before the forum page update.
Just my two bobs worth.
Barry.

if your using IE and you've changed privacy settings this can happen - make sure you set this site to "always accept cookies" or reduce the privacy settings for all pages.

G'day Gumbie,
Yes. I was having the old no smilies problem & cleared both the cookies & cache + history. I downloaded & installed the latest version of Mozilla suite & got my smilies back. Now this new problem has arisen. Could possibly be the time frame as suggested. Will clear cache & cookies again & go from there. Thanks Gumby. )
Regards,
Barry.

One thing that'll always log a session out is changing the URL used to access the website. Would the people who are having this problem be able to check that the URL doesnt change during the redirects after posting a message.
http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au is different to http://woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au (note the www.).
I'd also like to know what type of reply function your using - Quick Reply or the standard one? and do both log you out?
cheersSteve

G'day cyc,
I haven't had any problems using the quick reply so far. I'm using standard reply now so we'll see what happens. I'm currently using Mozilla Suite 1.7.12 which has not given me any other problems at any time. I also have Firefox 1.7 installed but haven't tried posting with it yet. It worked well when I was not able to access smilies in Mozilla. It's just a personal thing but I prefer Mozilla Suite over Firefox.
Well here goes.
Barry.
P.S heres the URL that lshows when I use standard reply. /www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/newreply.php?d

cyc - Steve, Noworries this time around. Posted first up. Coulda been what young Mr. Gumby suggested, i.e clear the cache & cookies. which I've done.
Will also try posting with Firefox as well.
Thanks Steve.
Barry.
