While going about all the other renovation jobs I've been thinking about how best to deal with the floors in the old house. At 100+ years old they're not in great condition (cypress pine) but have nice patina and I'd like to make the most of this feature. Some sanding will have to be done to achieve a reasonably level surface but I'd like to be conservative about it. And I'll need to fill GAPS, and deeper dents. As you can imagine, the timber is very dry (time and the climate here in Roma aren't conducive to moisture retention!). I'd prefer a waxed-look, soft satinny, natural sort of finish and am wondering what my options are. I've read some old posts and am interested what experiences other hammer wielders might have had - both good & bad. In the meantime, it's good to be rid of that gold and cream shagpile!
Thanks for any advice or warnings you can offer.
Regards,
K
