    Default Glue on paint.

    Hi everyone,

So I probably have a stupid question but people say "there are no such things as stupid questions" so ...

I have a big shelf unit that needs painting but each shelf is going to be painted in different colours.

In order to avoid putting the unit together and having to blue tape on each edge I was wandering if I could paint each of them separately and then slide/glue the shelfs in the dados.

paint will be a basic spray oiled base paint.

    Thx guys

Of course you can. But before painting put masking tape on the ends (end grain) of each shelf and in the rebate in which the shelf will slide into, this will allow the glue to be in direct contact with the timber and thus bond together.

Do not paint where the glue and wood will bond.
