Exclamation New (impossible) banking T&Cs !

Just received a flyer from St. George re: Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Legislation.

The bit that got my goat is:

"1. You warrant that your use of the services we provide will not breach any law of Australia or any other country."

Surely this is impossible to comply with!
I don't know every Australian law, and I'm sure there are plenty of examples where something which is legal in Australia is illegal in some country somewhere in the world.

What if I withdraw money from a St. George ATM, and use it to buy my wife a vodka cruiser? I'm guessing buying alcohol in public and/or giving it to a female may well be very illegal in some of the stricter middle east countries.

I'm stunned at the moment - hopefully I'll have some more coherent thoughts about this soon.

    gobsmacked,
    Andrew

Terms and conditions are enforceable only as far as they comply with the law. Stating something in T &C does not make it legal.

Companies often use this type of thing to intimidate customers.
