Getting good dressed hardwood in Darwin
Hey everyone,
Recently started getting into the hobby of making my own furniture. Its been great learning a lot of skills using basic softwoods and cheaper materials, but im looking to start making some quality furniture for myself and naturally I want some good quality materials to do it.
The problem is that Darwin is a bit starved when it comes to options (or at least it appears that way).
I guess my questions are: Is it worth paying to ship dressed timber from interstate or is that just asking for damaged timber and an expensive lesson?
Can anyone make some recommendations for quality hardwood that are available in the Darwin/NT region?
Cheers

I'd suggest call around to any local cabinetmakers/joiners and see if they're willing to sell you stock. Bunnings usually sells some sort of dressed hardwood but it can often be a little warped or inconsistently sized in my experience which could be an issue if you're expecting to get pieces you can just take straight to glue.
Buying from interstate is an option, but expect massive shipping costs and again consider that it may be shipped to you perfectly square but arrive warped due to the temperature changes.
