    Default Restaining a front door

My front door has a timber veneer exterior. The timber veneer has been stained and then finished with an estapol top coat. Over the years, the stain has faded unevenly, especially in a lower section which is shaded from the morning sun by a solid panel in a metal security door.

I want to re-stain the door. Should I use paint remover to get rid of the estapol? Any suggestions re a better approach? Any suggestions on how I treat the (currently) uneven faded original stain. I'll probably go to a darker stain for the future.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Any thing with sharp teeth eats meat.
    Most powertools have sharp teeth.
    People are made of meat.
Abrasives can be just as dangerous as a blade.....and 10 times more painfull.
