    Default Metabo BAS505G

    Hi all,
I'm currently going through an upgrade/spend phase including replacing my bandsaw and came across a second hand Metabo BAS 505 G. Does anyone here have one of these? If so what are your thoughts. My main use will be resawing, bit of curve cutting but not really small stuff like BS Boxes.

Just out of interest my current preference is the Laguna 14"SUV but there's a 10 week wait so might find something else in that time. The Metabo is about twice the price new.

    Cheers

I'm not familiar with that model but judging by the specs I think you can find better value elsewhere. You could purchase something equivalent new for a better price and still get warranty and support.

I never heard any thing about that band saw. How much is the Metabo ? If you'll use the band saw mostly on resawing and you don't need more power, 14" band saw would be best.

I'd wait for the Laguna - the waiting list may well be for a reason ! Good things come to those, etc.

I wouldn't rate any Metabo bandsaw as being in the same class of machine as the Laguna. From the reviews I've read, the Laguna offers similar performance to JET (and even Hammer), especially for resawing. If I ever get enough $$$ to upgrade my Basato4, the Laguna 14" SUV is top of my shopping list.

Thanks for the replies guys, I've completely gone off the idea of this Metabo now and am still looking/thinking/deciding/going crazy

Good luck on that! You may want to consider the depth of the cut and the throat of the band saw. The size of the motor is also one of the important things to consider.
