Default Fix or chuck these two ROS

Hi. I have two Bosch PEX random orbital sanders with problems and I’m trying to work out what to do with them.

They both have the same problem. Turn them on and they get up to full revs quickly, but as soon as you apply load they die. Revs down to zero or very nearly so.

Both got into this state when pushed very hard to sand floors in a desperate bid to right some problems before the professional floor installers arrived at our place.

    What causes this ?

    Are they fixable DIY?

if the answer is ‘chuck them out’ then no problem but importantly I just want to understand how things fail.

    Cheers

    Worn brushes?

If these are the Bosch green machines that I think they are, they are DIY grade machines and probably not worth the effort to fix. YMMV

Looks like burnt-out armature windings in the motors. So toss them.
