    Default Two Patients

I found this "joke" on a "jokes" web site. It would be funnier if it weren't so true.

Two patients limp into two different American clinics with the same medical complaint. Both have trouble walking and are in pain.

The first patient is examined within the hour, x-rayed the same day, and has a time booked for surgery the next week.

The second patient sees the family doctor after waiting one week for an appointment, then waits another few weeks to see a specialist, then gets an x-ray, and then his surgery is scheduled for 6 months from initial exam.

Why the difference in the two patients?

    The first is a dog.

The second is a senior citizen.

That's no joke. It took me three weeks to get in to have my quadruple bypass done and that was in a private hospital as a private patient.

The other week I took my dog to the vet at 9:00am they took him in and removed two tumors from his groin and I picked him up the following morning after the anesthetic had worn off.

If the tumours had spread we would have the poor animal humanly treated, but, if the tumours were in a human, we would fill them full of morphine and watch them suffer as I have done with my father and my brother - some times I wish it was a dog's life
