Rong Fu Vs Macc Horizontal bandsaw
Hi,
I've come across some good reviews about Rong Fu bandsaws but nothing about Macc. I'm looking at medium size machines about 200mm and I'm most interested in build quality and performance. I find it hard to believe that Macc machines are completely manufactured in Italy. Their website completely avoids this topic. I think they are Chinese made machines possibly assembled in Italy and maybe an added Italian Motor.
How would you compare the 2 brands.

I am no bandsaw expert. But the pic on their homepage looks like a real factory to me: WWW.MACC.IT - BAND-SAWS , CUTTING-OFF MACHINES , IRON BENDER , SPIRAL BENDER , ROLLER CONVEYORS. If you look at the top right, it even says "made in Italy'.
Is everything they sell really made in Italy, who can tell nowdays? The bearings from my Italian made mower deck came from some obscure east European maker. But then, can you tell if everything made by RongFu is really made in Taiwan, or could it be they source castings come from mainland China? Does it matter? I recommend you have a good look at the machines you are considering. Compare the feel and finish. Download the part and user manuals, do they look professionally made? Compare prices, which one seems to be best value? Which brand has the better reputation (everybody has heard about RongFu, what they make is all a bit "agricultural" in technology but fairly priced and long lasting). I personally did not know MACC before looking up their website today (and yes I do speak Italian). Chris

Yes, I will put my hands on them first. I was just looking at another Italian saw, Thomas. Again they don't say "Manufactured in Italy". When you compare them on paper or the web, they all look the same. I don't wan't to pay just for a name if there is not much difference between them. In Lieu of expert reviews or inside knowledge, I can only really ask for people's opinion. If I had them all in front of me, I would forensically strip them down.
One thing I have noticed, If a company actually manufactures a product in their premises, in their own country, they usually go out of their way to point that out.

The business i work for has a Macc 400S bandsaw. The salesman has told me that the castings are from Taiwan and the electrics/ electronics and hydraulics are done in Italy.
Having said that ,its a pretty good saw. We had to change a module in it initially as the road journey to us, upset a cold soldered joint but no problems since then.

Rong fu saw is like the band saw machine that I own . I have Trajan 712. This bandsaw works very well. I am not so familiar with Macc bandsaw.
