Books, boxes and boats
Hi I thought I should introduce myself as a new forum member (it's only polite after all)
As the grandson of a master NZ cabinet maker and boat builder, I have a woodworking heritage that over the years I have not honoured as I should.
Nevertheless I enjoy woodworking and making things that I can use myself. To that end I like to make the odd bookcase or storage box, and have dabbled in boatbuilding.
I have joined the forum in the hope of finding information on timber supplies in Brisbane, tools, techniques and ways of improving my work. I'm hoping to get some machine tools soon, starting with a small bandsaw. I think I'll always be a rough sort of woodworker but as long as things work and look OK I'm largely happy.
Here are some of my completed projects. Thanks for reading.
One of a pair of bookcases I recently completed. Just radiata pine, but looks OK from a distance.
My boat, a highlander 14 which I built quite a few years ago now. She's nearly worn out now and I hope to build a new larger dayboat to my own design someday soon.

G'day Mate. Welcome to the board - I know you'll get plenty of info, both by searching and asking, and the pics you posted are more than adequate to bring praise.

Think you'll be giving advise pretty soon, by the look of those two pieces.
