barn door - anyone done one?
Hello members, just about finished the outside of my shed extension, (after some slight f/ups - all of my doing) and l want a barn door (split door) so as to stop little children from wandering in and also to stop snakes (they make me jump everytime) coming in but to let a nice breeze enter. (no it doesn't have windows)
The door will be 1100mm wide by 2200mm high,(rough est) l've got 4 wide brass Parliament hinges (to swing outside) so they should be strong enough and a 90x90mm post to swing it from.(to take longer screws)
Construction - l have some cypress slabs about 400mm wide plus some messmate 250mm wide or may just use T&G hard wood flooring with a messmate surround.
To stop rain from entering the split l was told to try a half butt join/ridge for want of a better term, (hope you can picture that)
Has anyone made one and if yes what problems did you encounter?
Regards
Steve

Bingo Fred, l may have bitten off more than l can chew (again), but your door came up tops - well done.
l thought with the wider slabs it would be quicker - not always the case.
l width is important as the shed ext is "L" shaped and l need the extra width to get in longer pieces of timber "around the corner".
