Hello,

I'm looking at putting up a ceiling in my garage. However, I'm stuck with what type of material to use for the ceiling without spending a fortune.

My Garage is 8M x 5.8M. Each of the joist (5.8M long, 100x290) and are space at different distances throughout the garage. 1st is 500mm from front of garage door, 2nd is 1820mm, 3rd 1600mm, 4th 1760mm and 5th 1680mm.

I was looking at putting in some wood battens going from joist to joist and spacing them 600mm appart. This would be around 11 x 1820mm battens, 11x 1600mm battens, etc.

The battens that I was looking at using were 70x35. This is where I'm stuck. Will this 1) hold the weight of ceiling sheets without causing it to eventually bow due to the lenght of battens?

With the above situation, what would be the recommended material to use for ceiling sheets without breaking the bank? It doesn't need to be flash.

I'm located in Sydney West and would love to know any recommendations on any suppliers that have competive pricing on their products in my area.

PDF diagram attached with all measurements including sheet sizes that I was thinking of using.
