2/3 scale Brough Superior
Well the time has come to have a go at the Brough.
Looking at the pictures of the bike I'm building it's a little daunting, but that's half the fun.

The bikes a 1939 SS100 but in fact it was made in 1938.
The reason being that it was built by Brough to be displayed at the 1938 Olympia in Earls Court to introduce his 1939 model.
The bike is owned by Terry Hobden in England, and I've been lucky enough that on his trip to England fletty was able to photograph the bike.
His come back with over 200 great pictures of the machine showing fantastic detail.
From time to time you'll notice in the pictures fletty took of the bike, there's a small red dot in frame.
That's his rather clever way of giving the scale of the parts on the bike.
The red disc is 29.5mm wide from that I can workout the dimensions of the original and then reduce them to 2/3 scale "Brilliant fletty".

Like with the Indian I'll start with the barrels.
I wont even have a guess at how long the build will take.
The Indian was about 16 months work and the Brough looks to be more complex.
So we'll just see how it goes!.
Cheers

I'll admit it's been to long coming to start on the Brough.
Tayne and I will still be in Scamander for at least another four months (not that that's to hard to put up with).
So I'll be working on the back veranda of the Shack.
Not exactly a shop but I reckon if you can build an Indian under a carport, you can at least start a Brough under a veranda!.
And at the end of the day mate as much as I'm enjoying living down here in Tassie, I'm always happiest when I'm building something.
Cheers

Mission Control, FINALLY we have lift off....
Mission Control, FINALLY we have lift off....
While the new surroundings are beautiful as your photographic skills have shown,
I was sure you wouldn't last too much longer without some sawdust, cardboard, plastic pipe, filler, and other such useful junk being flung around the place to CREATIVE ANOTHER MASTERPIECE by the ARTFUL BOGGER.....
LETS GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD TREVOR....
Cheers, Peter
PS - How many good junk shops and recycle yards have you found in the district?????

Box seat
I bags a front row seat for this one! Can't wait to see how big a variety of materials go into this build. See if you can incorporate some sort of sound system in this one that "replicates" the sound of a Brough on full song.
Let the master begin!

Best described as an Alfresco Workshop!
I like to think of it as airy with an open plan feel to it!.

Good cross flow ventilation for clean work environment....
PLUS way cooler climate than Mildura, especially in the summer....

Looks like you are there to stay, got the Tassie number plates on.
Do you have a recycling place nearby to get all your bits you're going to need?Dallas

You got that right mate!
I think it was in the low 30's here today and the locals where nearly passing out.
All I was thinking was talk to me when it's 47+.
Mildura folk call that warmish!.
Love my Tassie plates mate.
Even got the Tassie Tiger on them "How Way Kool".
Not to get into trouble with the locals, but I've been a little disappointed with the recycling in the country areas.
There's not a lot to speak of.
Launceston and Hobart are pretty much on the ball, but in the country area's it's still in the costs to much basket.
Which I guess for smaller councils is fair enough.
Couldn't agree more on that.
But don't let him know his still got a ton of work to do for me before this ones over!.
Cheers Guy's

Hi Trev,
lve joined the audience for this journey. Not quite front row but just a little left of centre. I don't know how you will go for local sources of recycled treasure but lm sure that all of your mates on the forum would LOVE to help with the scavenging!
If you would put up the scaled dimensions of say the headlight nacelles and wheels etc, I for one would be looking out for something to use?
flettya rock is an obsolete tool ......... until you don’t have a hammer!

That may just happen Alan.
I've always thought that having a recorded engine sound would be a little on the Neff side of things.
But after having the Indian at the Ross rally, I reckon if it had of roared it would of done their heads right in!.
And I do like the idea of having the sound of Terry's bike.
Perhaps we could hide a speaker in the horn and the gizmo in one of the saddle bags.
Only the best quality MDF for me mate.
Yep got the old Foxtel, you need something for background noise at 3 in the morning.
Come on fletty it's not just you that's a little left of centre, this hole damn build will be!.
As for the scavenging go for your lives!!!!!
If anyone happens to spot something that they think would be useful let me know.
The glory days of Aroundagain are over, finding bits and pieces is a lot hard at the moment.
Mind you when I go back to Mildura to get stuff out of storage a raid will be made on the old stomping ground!.
Cheers Guy's
