Default how to apply black prooftint?

    .

I am currently making a table for the second daughter that is 2200 x 1200 in vic ash.

For some reason she wants it black

Anyway after reading other threads I have secided to use Feast Watson black prooftint.

Has anyone got any tips on the best way to apply it to get and even coverage?

Can it be sprayed on ?

Er, perhaps you might want to go price Feast Watson black proof tint first, especially for a table that size.

Applying it? Wear gloves! Also try a couple of tests on some scrap vic ash first to get an idea of what it will look like as well as give you something to test with the final finish, as proof tint is just a stain, not a finish in itself.

As I've never applied it to anything larger than a box, I can't comment on spraying it on. Based on my experiences with it, I'd be inclined to apply two coats with a brush.

    Cheers

    Default thanks

    Thanks Wendy,

I did some samples, but now she tells me it needs to be more "chocolate Brown".

So now I just have to wait until they make up their minds.

Then again I could just paint it and save some time.

Oh the changing mind of a client

it would be a shame to paint it, the grain of ash is lovely, takes a stain quite well and when stained, the grain does 'pop'
