Default Garry Bennett has passed away.

Garry Knox Bennett passed away on January 28th at 87.
A very much larger than life character who was extremely generous with his time and hospitality to the craft and furniture in particular.
I visited Garry in 1983 and he put me up at his Alameda home and I worked with him in his Oakland workshop, Garry even loaned me an old VW rag top to get around San Francisco.
I was able to repay his generously when he stayed with us in 1988 whilst out in Oz giving lectures and workshops in Melbourne and Sydney.
A few photos below, the Jarrah bench he made in my Concord workshop.
A few of the participants standing on the bench with Garry.
The Darwin stubby Richard Vaughan gave Garry for afternoon refreshments.
And a few other miscellaneous photos from his book. “Made in Oakland”.
After staying with Garry in 1983 I hitched up the coast to Fort Bragg.
    Interesting reception from Krenov
I last saw Garry at Emma about 2000, He was in fine form might have even had a toke or two with Michael Hosaluk.

Do a bit of research on Garry Knox Bennett and the nail cabinet.
Its complicated as is Krenov’s path from the East coast to the west.
Lots of egos from Europe telling others how it’s done.
Quite similar to George and Chris here in Oz.
