Setting out stirrups in concrete for a timber carport
Hello fellow builders, renovators and DIY'ers, I am new to this site and think it will be great for me in asking and finding out detailed knowledge on renovating tips and ideas. I am from Melbourne and are currently renovating a house with my wife. I have a timber carport project on the go. I have purchased a large timber carport measuring 5.4 in length and 3.5 in width with a height of 2.4 m. from ebay and have it in pieces ready to go up. The timber posts were cemented into the ground. The measure 120mm in diameter. I have cut them off at ground level and wish to put them in stirrups and set them into the ground. My questions are, can anyone give me advice on how to set out the stirrups, make them level, what hole and depth dimensions to use, and how much concrete to use and any other tips or tricks. Cheers Jeff
