We are planning to have timber windows in our new house, and the wife really really really wants them painted from the get go. I would love to have only the windows doors and floors be the oiled, but .......

What timber should I be chasing. WRC or meranti or other. For some reason and can't remember why but someone suggested meranti. Is it way cheaper or better suited to painting?

I am half thinking that I might as well go for the WRC because one day we will sell and the next owner with be see how much better it would look oiled........
