French Antique baby - show & tell
Hello all
Photos here of latest completed project for our next grandchild (3 weeks away).
The brief was for a "French Antique" finish.
The cot and change-table were "pre-loved" and I decided to strip back the stained and sealed finish to the bare timber. Probably could have got away with a sand back only but had the time to spare so I took it right back.
The lowboy and chair were bought new but had a light timber finish that sanded back ok.
I used all Porter's products (just about the only paint line I could find that would give the required finish) - limeproof undercoat, low-sheen acrylic, French Wash, clear sealer. These all worked well. The undercoat was a challenge - had to thin down dramatically and sand back but the overall result was quite good.
I started the job at home here in Melb and finished the last 2 pieces in Canberra. Methinks not much painting happens in Canberra once winter hits - with the cold and damp things take forever to go off.
Nevertheless the job came up well and Daughter-In-Law is pleased.cheers,
Bosun
keep smiling
