Gigantic notification emails

I just received two copies of a notification of a new post in a thread I'm watching, 4 minutes apart.

One was a normal notification email 4KB in size and the other, although it looked identical on the outside, was 734KB. Even takes a few seconds to load and appear when I try to view it.

Does anyone know what's going on here?
