Martin T17 sliding table saw.

I am helping a mate clear a workshop for a terminally ill friend of his.
Amongst the machinery is a Martin T17 saw bench.
I was in a share workshop in Sydney back in 1985 and they had an identical saw.
I had my PK at the time.
After I bought my current shop at Concord in 86 I bought a Martin T75 which had the longer Al sliding table.
If anyone is interested there is a comparison debate re the merits of the PK to the T17 over on the U.S. Sawmill Creek forum. Which stars a certain Canadian PK.
This saw is available if anyone is interested but we have to clear the workshop so be quick.

Not sure if this saw has a scribe blade but can check on Sunday.

No scribe on the saw.But there is an old overhead guard wot hangs from the roof which would suit the old girl.
I will put a pic of the guard up tomorrow when I unload the ute. If it is of use to anyone PM me.
These saws eat hardwood.
Depth of cut is 147mm that's just under 6".
Being belt drive it puts a PK to shame. Greater depth of cut and 3 speeds. Built in oil lines for lubrication.
Although I do remember docking 80 year old hard wood sleepers for the fire on my PK.
They ripped up hundreds from MacDonaldtown and had them at Burwood tip for $1 each.
Went with a mate in his Toyota Stout and we got the front wheels just about off the ground.
He wanted them for his garden.
The council thought they'd make a killing chopping then up with a chainsaw.
After a few injuries from bouncing saws they just flogged it off at $1 each.
Burnt all night in the slow combustion.

This is the overhead guard that was in the workshop.
It may have come with the Martin from a previous location where it was attached off the roof.
This will be offered with the saw.
If it isn't wanted by the buyer of the saw put your hand up if you can use it.

I have one of these, at least I'm pretty sure it's a T17. It's certainly a Martin panel saw and looks identical. I'm embarrassed to say it's been sitting under a tarp out in the weather for a couple of years awaiting the construction of my new shed, so I'm not sure what condition it's in. However, I'm sure it will clean up just fine.

I bought it from a local joinery with a power feed attached and they used it almost exclusively for ripping down larger flitches and sections, and they reported that the motor would not change pitch even under heavy load.
