Removing walls in kitchen advice.
Evening,
I've just bought in Greenwood. Its my first house and I'm in the process of renovating to modernise it a bit.
I have multiple ideas on what to do in the kitchen but I need to be mindful of cost. If some of the ideas are to difficult and will require significant structural reinforcing i wont worry about it.
- There are 4 small/nib walls on the side the oven and stove top are located. I would like to remove 3 of these. The two surrounding the wall oven and the one on the left of the stove top. The one on the right of the fridge will remain.
- There is a opening in the wall between the dining and the kitchen. I would like to extend this up to the ceiling and down to the new bench top height.
- The pantry opening is quiet small, i would like to open the door way up to make it a double opening door.
- The back wall of the pantry moved further into the dining to occupy the existing void, this would allow me to walk into the pantry or,
- If it is possible to move the back wall of the pantry into the dining i wouldn't mind taking some of the front of the pantry off to allow a larger entrance into the kitchen.
I have attached some photos below.
I received a quote in reply to the above to do the following
Remove 3 nib walls and bulkheads replace ceiling and cornice where walls removed.
Remove back wall of pantry & flush new wall into dining.
Replace ceiling and cornice where walls removed.
Open doors on pantry for double access doors.
This came to $3900. Because there's not many wall removal companies in my area i dont have much to compare it to. Is this a fair price?
