Carving tree into stools
Hey all,
I've got some redgum (or rivergum, not too sure really) that has been cut into rings about 200mm thick and 600mm in diamater and then cut in half to make four semicircles.
I want to carve out a seat area on one side and attach legs on the other to make bar stools.
The legs are no problem, I'll either make them from scratch or recycle some old ones.
What I'd like to know is the best way to go about carving the seat, and what tools I need, and also whether to do it straight away or let it dry out for a while first.
I've got quite a few tools but I'm guessing there's someone here who can tell me exactly what I should be using!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
