Help, Where and what is this in Sydney?

Does anyone know where this is situated and what it is. ?
Taken in Sydney recently by a friend of mine and she is compiling an album with all the pictures she took while on holiday in Sydney and can't remember what or where this was. I should know, having spent nearly 20 years in and around the place but can't bring it to mind although it looks familiar.

Sacred Heart Convent, Rose Bay. Now a girls High School I think.

Used to be St. Patricks seminary Manly, alma mater of Thomas Keneally and Tony Abbott, among others. It's now a hospitality college I think.

don't recognise the building, but looking at the line of the opera house, harbour bride and the building in the city, my guess is that it's taken from somewhere in vaucluse. It's not Vaucluse house though.

Any thoughts?

Kincoppal school
Corner of Vaucluse Rd and New South Head Rd.

Never been there in person, but thanks to nearmap.com and then google maps, it took about 3 minutes to find my guess.

That's right - the house in front was owned by the photographer, Frank Hurley, who took the iconic photos of the construction of the Sydney Harbour Bridge from that angle.

Alex is on the money with this one John view is from North side of harbour it is now International School or managment. We often gave it in commentary as Cardinal's Palace.

I think that is a totally different place guys. Pretty sure you can't see the bridge and city from Manly.
This is the old Convent at Rose Bay as arose62 said, now called Kincoppal Sacred Heart School.

Thanks guys, it does indeed appear to be the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Rose Bay.

I stand corrected BUT the photo is not that of the Catholic school but Kambala which is down hill a little this photo is taken from almost the same spot as you can see Google Maps

What got me was the distance and angle.

Thanks Ray, I am totally confused as to what the building is in the picture. I have seen some pictures that look similar to the original picture and is titled as Convent of the sacred heart. I am no longer sure about it.

This is the other pic I found on the net with the title of Roze bay school, Lady of Sacred Heart. Looks the same building to me but still not sure if the title is correct.

John I used google maps street view which brought up the photo's of both the schools Kambala which is CofE and the Catholic school (what ever its name is now)
and the photos and street view confirm for me its the school down the hill Kambala.
