    please help identify these garden bugs

    My lady tells me these are horrendous.
    I've found quite a few.
    But don't know enough about them to call it an infestation.

    Colours in first photo were a bit confusing but second photo is definitely a harlequin bug.

    Used to be very common in Melbourne when I was a kid in the 1950s but very rarely seen where I've been in north east Melbourne suburbs over last 40 odd years.

    The first pic is two mating.
    I've seen 100's mating.
    And only one of the Harlequin.

    Definitely.
    Flame Thrower has been considered.

    But have settled on a Proton Pack.
