Filling cracked grain
I'm making a coffee table from a cross section of QLD Maple (i.e. an oval shape with bark all the way round). one section of the grain has opened up a bit, so I wanted to fill it - I was thinking of an a clear epoxy - can anyone recommend a brand? The final finish will be gloss estapol. Any advice appreciated.

You could use the "West System". It dries clear (slight yellowish tinge) and is quite easy to use but is faily runny. The other alternative would be thick CA glue. They both can be bought from Carba Tec or MIK.
