Photos not uploading
I've been trying today to upload pics to two of my threads and keep getting a 'This is not a valid image file' message.
The threads are https://www.woodworkforums.com/f10/wh...ir-pin-171626/ and Another Cigar Box Guitar WIP - Page 8
I can't add my 'finished' pics to the threads. The pics are the same resolution as I usually upload, and even making them extra-small doesn't help.
Can anyone shed any light on this? Is there maybe a limit on the number of pics a member can upload, or is something else amiss?
I just tried uploading a small pic to this thread with the same result, so it's not merely the threads.
It's not picture size, either, I just tried a little 64KB jpg file and it won't upload.
I just tried and can upload a text file, but jpg, bmp and even gif won't work.
Edit: In 'Settings', it says ' You are currently using 93.75 MB to store 766 uploaded attachments.' It says nothing about having reached a limit or anything like that.... Steve

For a test, _fly_ just tried uploading a pic to one of my threads and struck the same problem, so it's not just me.

There is the other post that says lower case extension works and only uppercase doesn't, NOT TRUE.
Made no difference.
should I try jpeg and gif to see if that makes a difference?

OK, just came in from the shed and saw all these posts about picture uploading problems.
So, tried it myself and guess what?
You're right something appears broken coz I got the same error!
B*gger, will report it to the backroom boys and see what they can do.

Ok just tried a BMP, GIF, JPEG and PNG, All failed to load as valid images. This is on top of the jpg that people are having trouble with.

Problem appears to be with some errant coding in the uploader. Have put in a request to the Guru but it probably won't be fixed until tomorrow some time.
Prefer that pics were loaded from your computer and stored on the forums rather than stored on an outside source such as PhotoBucket as these often get deleted and ruin threads especially if it is for a WIP or similar.

Thanks, Neil, and I agree regarding storing pics on the forums rather than elsewhere. I've seen some good WIPs ruined because the pics had disappeared.
Once this is sorted out, I'll change my 2 threads - delete the PhotoBucket links and upload the pics here on the forums.... Steve

Nice to know I'm not alone....could not believe that some limit could be reached so quickly....one could never do an entire build log had that been the case.
Anxiously awaiting the fix......can't build without a build log....
Cheers,

It looks like an automatic software update didn't run properly, uploading images should be fine now
