    Default Things we rarely use

How many things do we have that we rarely use but are glad we have?

The adjustable height steering column in my car comes to mind as does a collection of painting equipment.

    Hi,
A lot of my router bits fall into that category, not used often but when I need (want) them they earn there keep for all the time they have been loafing.

My Spindle Moulder and Triton MOF Router. I don't need them all the time, but once a year, they come in damn handy!

I received a set of mental blocks some years ago.

In recent times I find I am using them more often.

Still on the car theme - the spare wheel and jack.
I had a car from new for 24 years and over that time I might have used the spare for 10km if that.
The jack was never used as I have a trolley jack, and the only time I recall having a flat was when I pulled a little pin out of a tyre. (Then used wife's car to take down and have fixed.)

However if you have a flat away from home you will be thankful for the spare and jack and hopefully a wheel brace.

For me, it's all the little doodads and gadgets...

...such as my small metal thread-sizing plate. Or dowel marking inserts. Or magnetic digital angle gauge. (For setting the TS, etc.)

Only use them once a blue moon, but when I do need to use them they always save me a heap of time and panadols.

(Now, if only I can find a little dohickey that keeps track of where my other wotchamacallits have gone since I last used them... )
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

So THAT'S why he married a GPS/Mapping specialist with a database processing background!
My purpose, to put little gps trackers on all his bits and make an app so he can find them all. ... and bake cookies.

What do I use? my leatherman multitool. Keep it in my bag and every now/then, JUST what I need.

The leatherman is a great little tool.

I have a genuine, complete with comprehensive flying instructions, and an el cheapo copy. Both were gifts.
