Looking to buy drill bit
I am in need of a 19mm drill bit, to drill a 150mm hole in a piece of wood, without going through the base. I have tried Irwin speedbore bit with the extension, but it doesn't drill accurately - has too much wander.
I was therefore looking for a 19mm long drill bit with a MT2 morse taper so I could put it in the lathe tailstock, but the longest I can find is 135mm drilling depth. Anyone know where I could get one with a few extra cms in length?

Drill a pilot hole with a small diameter long series HSSS drill bit.
Then the Irwin Speedbore bit will follow the path without wandering.

Hi Simon
Colt Forstner bits would be the go. They have a shank with a RotaStop eccentric grind to which can be added a 90, 150 or 270mm extension, and there is also an MT2 taper extension. They have a brad point pilot which is perhaps 3-4mm long so you get a flat bottomed hole with a very shallow pilot hole. These extensions are very stable, and according to those who use them with MT2 they are the ducks guts. They are German made, and from very high quality alloy, and very easy to re-sharpen.
I can email you some diagrams etc if you PM me your email addy.
Cheers, Brett
