    Default Roofing software

Hi, has anyone came across a roofing calculator similar to the one on this sitehttp://www.blocklayer.com/Roof/RoofEng.aspx
Its quite good except i am unable to get the spacings that i want, even though you may key them in correctly(450mm) the result is different.I am a carpenter and have a basic hip roof to put on,so i was after an easy way of getting sizes, angles ,quantities etc.Was going to use a roofing carpenter but the the quality was not there and i know i can do a lot better, but concede it will take 3x longer! Any help gladly taken Thanks

Actually Blocklayer is a member of this forum. You could send him a PM. Just look him up under the member list and his user name is Blocklayer.

That calculator looks good to me. If you plug in 450 spacing, then it spaces the rafters evenly depending on your wall length, without exceeding 450 spacing. Of course you don't have to follow the spacings as shown. You can space them at 450, then have a smaller spacing at the end (looks terrible if the rafters or overhangs are exposed), or make your wall a bit longer so it divides evenly by 450.

That's a brilliantly designed calculator and it does everything you'd need to set out a simple hipped roof.
