Removing load bearing wall, builder suggested laminated beam but want something not
Hi there
Have small 2 rooms with a dividing load bearing wall and want to remove wall and turn into one larger room. Current rooms are L 2.4 by W 3.6 and L 3 by W 3.6. Looking to make it into a home theatre room. Load bearing wall is single brick 3.6 wide.
Builder suggested installing a laminated beam that would be visible and extend from plaster ceiling into room as most economically option. I would prefer some other support that is not visible from inside the room when ceiling replastered. What are better solutions?
House is 24 years old, this section has double brick walls, 2.4 flat ceiling and house has colourbond roof.
Thanks for any suggestions
Kevin
