Problem with securing flashing to aged western red cedar cladidng
We have a problem with re-securing roof flashing to aged external western red cedar boards. When you try to screw it, it just pops out because the cedar seems quite dry and quite porous. We have a high set house with brick for the bottom section and the upstairs area is western red cedar. There is a roofed verandah and garage extending from the lower cedar section and this is where the flashing has come away and is allowing rain to seep through. Help, just don't know what to use. Special screw ???
