How can I paint ply for exterior use
Hi there,
I've been given a street library kit to assemble and put out the front of the house.
It's plywood and will be painted.
I have never really done any finishing of ply that will be exposed to the weather.
I only want to do it once - I don't even want to do it once, to be honest, but I'm doing it.
So, to make it last....
- Would I seal the ply first? With what?
- Then undercoat? Oil or water based - I have both.
- Then topcoat - oil or water based?

Undercoat/primer two top coats of exterior grade paint, both come in oil or water based, water based will dry in less than half the time of oil paint, painted my house with water base 14 years ago, still good no peeling or cracking

You need most of all to seal the edges. Without doing that, it's just a matter of time.
