Mazak Lathe.
G'day.
Marko was at a customer the other day, that is getting rid of this Mazak lathe

I don't know how, but the top slide and tailstock have gone M.I.A. The ways were re-ground by Marand, and it hasn't done any work since. That rust should buff right out.
I don't expect there to be much interest, but I've been asked to put it up. Because it's coming out of a company, their view of its worth might be different to ours. They think its worth a $1,000 bucks. That would be optimistic, in my opinion. But beer money / cash talks.
Pity, it would have been a beautiful machine in its day. I only put it out, in case any one is in dire need of a project machine. Location is Laverton Vic.
Regards Phil.

Long taper series spindle nose is going to be expensive to tool up WRT the D series camlock spindles. $50 over scrap price if they load it would be fair value IMO. The missing compound is not a huge deal but the missing TS is a major PITA. Good exercise in pattern making, casting & machining though. No personal interest, too many unfinished projects already. Just ruminating...... PDW

Could be difficult
I agree with PDW, it would have to be cheap. As much as they were great lathes to operate, finding or constructing or adapting a tailstock isn't easy. I have been involved with adapting one before and the easiest we found was to find an old one with a lower centre height and machine an adapter plate to fit between the bed and the tailstock. That one we did was a bit less well finished than desireable, it would be a real shame on a lathe like that. I think you would have more luck finding chucks, at a price of coarse!!
