enclosing verandah - need advice on window header size and studs
We're enclosing a verandah which has a corrugated iron roof, and 2 walls already enclosed (ie, the back and one side wall). I'd like to put windows in the largest wall - and have two sets of windows ready to go - 2300 and 1800 in width. Ideally i'd like to put them together and put a single header over the top, but i'm unsure what timber would be suitable. I'll be using a standard stud wall.
so my questions are:
1) Does the new stud wall classify as load-bearing, given its currently free standing and i'm basically just filling it in?
2) What sort of timber should I use for the window header (ideally 4100 span or the two separate if need be)?
3) I'll probably try and get the studs from bunnings (unless anyone has a better suggestion in blue mountains nsw) - what should I be asking for?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
