    Default Joist an bearers size

    Hi there!

Can anyone tell me the right size for joists and bearers for a decking that will span 10m x 3 meters wide along the back of the house and some 1.5/1.8 meters above ground?
Material will be treated pine. I am not sure wich way to go about this.
If the flooring goes along the house, then the joist will be across and bearers along.
In 3 meters the joist will have to be 8 or 10 inches in order to avoid a bearer in the center of the veranda. If I want to go 6 inches for the joists, I need a central bearer.
Question is, what size is OK for 3 meter span? And, Is it worth while having big size joists or is it better to go 6 inch and another bearer in the center? I would rather avoid so much digging and concreting if I can.
    Thank you in anticipation
    Marc

190 x 45 f7 will happily span 3m at 450 spacings. 3m is a good size because you could simply dock the 6m lengths in half. Despite the extra timber costs over something smaller you will save time on footings etc.

You will need to submit to council and need a railing that complies with the BCA as the deck is over 1m.

Thank you Pulse, So 8" for the joist is OK.
I have to see how to attach them to the existing joist on the house side, on the other end I could have a 10" bearer all the way and hang the joists with those joist hanger thingies.
2.5 meter spacing for the post that hold the bearer is OK? This way it is only 5 4x4 post.
Sorry but I can't see any F7 in the table in the link above, it seems to be all for hard wood.
