I wanted to have a go at 30 x 160 or 40 x 160 but a length of hardwood with the less expensive 20x20 t-track will serve.
Thanks,

Just returned.
I made sure they were open and parts were available before I went.
Super nice.
Super patient.
Even thought I was kinda wishie-washie with what I wanted.
And for some reason I was super nervous. Might have been the caffeine.
They don't sell kits.
Which I think would make it easier.
But they are happy to work with everyone to get it sorted.
Whether CNC or WW people.
Note to self: Figure out exactly what you need. Get that. Then see what else you can pickup to save a trip.
Try to sort EVERYTHING out (including prices and counts) before you go.
there was a 20 x 80 at ~600 length.
She estimated about $30.
Calculating $1 for 100mm of 20x20
But be sure to verify prices before rocking up.
They also mentioned something about a "dump tax".
Where the australia gov charges a double import fee (?) for any aluminium import.
Except for the big companies. (as far as I understand)
Thats why it costs so much.
hthThanks,

Australian manufacturers can apply to Customs to have any competing import declared as "dumped" -- "dumped" means landed in Australia at less than the manufacturing cost. I'm not sure who establishes that the landed price in Australia is less than the cost of manufacture in the country of origin. It might be Customs, it might be the ACCC, it might be another body.
The policy intent of the rule is to protect Australian manufacturers from being driven out of business by overseas companies dumping product into Australia. I believe there have been instances where the landed cost of steel and aluminium products has been less than the cost of the raw materials.regards from Alberta, Canada

I give you another one, through the eighties and nineties I used a lot of aluminium in my dies. You could buy Australian aluminium ingots substantially cheaper overseas. On importing them back you had to pay import duties to protect the Australian manufacturers. Talking about a level playing field. The Aussie manufacturers did not stand a chance to begin with.
