ubeaut wax question.
hi,
Got a big tub of ubeaut neautral a while back and want to use it up.....but I need it to impart a more honeycome beeswax lustre.
Before this been using up a tub of some mystery wax I scored. Just about all gone (old rusty tin I got cheap at a market with no label) but have been happy with the finish...has a lot of beeswax content I'm guessing ....just have been rubbing in heavily and hard with steel wool, imediately rubbing off with a rag while its warm (go through a lot of rags)
Its an immediate unmessy finish I really like, that soots my work , thats easy to build up. no drying times, unevenness, hotspots , sprayguns, poisen etc. not fiddly, but looks good.
So what sort of things can I add to the Ubeaut neautral, to make it more brown in colour (beeswax ? some kind of translucent colour ?) and how do I make the wax less wet ? (just leave it sitting around with the lid off ? )
thanks kindly
Jake

You could change the colour by adding a couple of drops of Yellow oxide and 1 drop of burnt umber this should get you somewhere near the colour you require. Give it a really good stir in and if more colour is needed do it by adding just a couple of drops at a time. you may need to add more than the 1 drop of burnt umber.
You can get the universal tint from Bunnies. Just go to the paint department and ask for some of what ever colours you want from their carousel. Most will sell you about 100 ml for a couple of dollars.
Other option get some Baltic Trad Wax. Kinda nappy poop colour which on white-wood will give a honeycomb sort of colour or aged baltic/soft teak colour.
Cheers
