    Default Spraying lacquer

I was planning to spray an electric guitar using Mirotone Mirocat 3220, which is a full gloss pre cat lacquer. I have never used this product before so I have several questions:

    1. What thinning percentage should I consider?
    2. How much time between coats?
    3. How many coats should be applied to get a high gloss finish?
    4. Will a standard spray gun be suitable?

    Thanks in advance

    Cheers

1: 5-10% low end is generally better for fresh tins.

2: As little as 10 mins if you want. an hour is pretty standard though.
BUT: Although re-coat time is quick, the lacquer is quite soft, so do not turn it over or cover for a minimum of 24 hrs and be aware it actually takes up to 2 weeks to fully cure. We generally stick to 3 coats a day limit.

3: Varies on the timber ie grain filling, can be 3 coats can be a lot more. Give it a good sand to ensure a smooth base before final coat.

4: Yes, in the right hands. A competent sprayer can get a reasonable gloss coat.
