StopNoise add-on double glazing
Had this product installed on my windows a couple of weeks ago.
Must admit, have been very happy with it.
By way of background, I live approx 40m off a busy main road with cars, trucks and trams. I had already spent fairly big $$ replacing my double hung sash windows with very good quality wooden laminated ones (12.38lam). I was disappointed with the result to be honest. In the end, it is my view that the benefit of thicker glass will not eliminate noise if noise can penetrate through other sources. In my situation, noise was coming through the very small gap where the sashes meet.
The StopNoise product created a 100mm airgap and is extremely well sealed. I can now hear no cars at all and only very faint sounds from trucks and trams (not enough to bother me). In terms of cost, is was fairly cheap.
Yes, the incasing of the StopNoise product encrouches into my room by 60mm but with curtains covering it, you would hardly know it was there (the StopNoise product replicates the sashes of my window so cannot be seen at all from outside).
